It started with a boom. The night sky was lit up with the colorful fireworks. The crowd was giddy with delight. The set of artists performed. Big speakers, loud music that made more the audience energetic. The atmosphere is full of happiness and joy. Opening of Kannawidan was indeed a success. Everyday I go to school I always passed by the people who is exerting their efforts, working hard just to set-up, just to prepare the set location (Tamag grounds) for Kannawidan. Working under the sun, lifting heavy materials, cleaning the area. They really made sure that everything is prepared. And yeah it is all worth it. Ilocos Sur is a province that is rich in culture that represents the ancient Spanish and Filipino heritage. And to share and show these treasures Ilocano conceived the Kannawidan Festival that lasts from the last week of January up to the third week of February.
